Salem: A one-week-old elephant calf was rescued by forest department officials on Friday at the forest areas bordering Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Efforts by forest officials to reunite the calf with the herd failed following which they handed it over to Cauvery wildlife warden in Karnataka, he said.
