Obama wins Hawaii, Wisconsin, increases lead over Hillary
Hawaii is the Illinois senator's tenth consecutive win.

Los Angeles, US: US presidential candidate, Illinois senator Barack Obama has won the Democratic caucuses in Hawaii, the state where he was born.

"We won in Wisconsin.. I am grateful to the people of Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, the temperature is 5 degrees and that did not deter them from exercising their civic duty," says Obama.

Voting continued in the pacific state of Hawaii longer than the mainland states to compensate for the time difference.

Obama's string of victories since early February has given him an edge in pledged delegates to the party's nominating convention this summer.

New York Senator Hillary Clinton now needs dominant victories in the big-state contests of Ohio and Texas on March 4 to catch up.

Among the Republicans, John McCain won Wisconsin and Washington.

Hillary was not expected to win Wisconsin and the campaign had already started pulling out when it became apparent that the state was leaning the way of the African-American Senator.

Obama cut deep into Hillary's support base of women and working-class voters in the mid-western state.
