HYDERABAD: The contents of the petition filed by YSR Congress honorary president YS Vijayamma in the High Court seeking a CBI probe into TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s assets are very old.Congress leaders have been levelling the same allegations against Naidu for the past 13 years, TDP leader K Srihari said.Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Srihari recalled that the courts dismissed the petitions filed by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and others against Naidu in the past. In some cases, YSR withdrew his petitions as he could not substantiate the charges against Naidu, he pointed out.He alleged that the ruling Congress and YSR Congress had reached a clandestine understanding to malign the image of Naidu. Vijayamma filed the petition in the High Court seeking a CBI probe into Naidu’s assets only at the behest of Congress, Srihari said.Vijayamma has a malafide intention in filing the petition against Naidu and it is meant to divert people’s attention from the CBI probe against his son and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the TDP leader said.Srihari recalled that when YSR was the Opposition leader he submitted a memorandum to the governor seeking a probe into Naidu’s assets, but there was no action on it.He also filed a petition before the 1999 elections demanding a probe into Naidu’s assets. But the court dismissed the petition stating that there was no strength in the case.“During his six-year stint as chief minister, YSR failed to prove his allegations against Naidu. Was YSR incompetent?” Srihari asked Vijayamma.Meanwhile, the TDP launched a campaign to counter the YSRC propaganda to tarnish the image of Naidu. Under the head of ‘Campaign of Defame on Chandrababu Naidu by YSRC and Congress’, the TDP website explained the ‘malafide intention’ of Vijayamma in filing the petition in the High Court.Vijayamma acted as per the direction of the Congress, it said.Dismissed petitions* 25-2-2000: The Supreme Court dismissed the SLP filed by YSR seeking permission to prosecute Naidu for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A division bench of the AP High Court dismissed the same petition on 2-11-1999.* 12-12-2000: A division bench of the High Court dismissed as withdrawn the petition filed by YSR and 40 others seeking a CBI probe into the assets of Naidu and his family.* 29-3-2001: The Delhi High Court dismissed a petition filed by YSR seeking a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) probe into Naidu’s assets.* July 2004: In a case filed by Kanna Lakshminarayana on the assets of Naidu, the AP High Court observed that the petition was withdrawn in 1999 and the same petition could not be allowed again.* In the same year, Palvai Govardan Reddy filed a case against Naidu under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allotting land to IMG Bharata. But the ACB court dismissed the petition stating that there was no evidence of quid-pro-quo.
