HYDERABAD: “Stop deceitful talk and start taking concrete action,’’ is how leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu has reacted to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s call for severe punishment of corrupt leaders.“The Congress governments in the state and at the Centre have failed to take any action either against Emaar Properties or against the irregularities committed by former chief minister the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The civil society raised its voice because of the inaction by the governments. There is clear-cut failure on the part of the Congress government,” Naidu told reporters here on Monday.Expressing concern that investments stopped flowing into the state and the industrial growth became very sluggish, he said college campus recruitments were on a lower scale and `104’ employees were rendered jobless. The situation being so, how the chief minister could promise 15 lakh jobs in the next three years, he wondered and demanded a white paper on how the government planned to create so many jobs. The chief minister should protect the jobs of ‘104’ staff first and then talk about creating jobs, he said.Explaining the pathetic condition of farmers, Naidu said that TDP cadre would stage protest dharnas in front of the district collectorates on September 19 demanding payment of Rs 10,000 per acre to each of the farmers who declared crop holiday in 15 districts. He alleged that 82 per cent farmers in the state were in debts and the government had failed to bail them out. An anti-corruption campaign will be launched by the party on October 2.The TDP would mobilise its cadre to fight against corruption and take up the problems of farmers and the poor, he declared.
