Bengaluru: The Turkish authorities on Friday deported nine people including five children to India from Turkey. The deported people are sent back to India on the suspicion that they were trying to cross over Syria from the Turkish border.
The group had gone to Istanbul on tourist visas and landed in Turky on December 24. They came in Bengaluru on Friday and the city police along with central intelligence agencies have questioned them.
Police suspect that the nine people were planing to join Islamilc State. The agencies are probing the case and looking into the backgrounds of the alleged people. "We came to know from the airport authorities regarding the whole incident, and we went to receive them. We have not taken anyone into custody. We are analysing various things regarding their background, why they went there and what was the reason. Their visas were legal and they went their on tourists visas," said police.
As per intelligence sources, Turkey has deported more than 1000 tourist from all over the world.
