New Delhi: The NCP is facing heat over the arrest of MP Padamsinh Patil for his alleged role in the murder of Pawanraje Nimbalkar and his driver, Samad Kazi. But the political fallout holds no interest for Kazi's family who are now living in fear.
CNN-IBN's sister channel IBN Lokmat visited Dhoki village on the outskirts of Osmanabad to find Kazi's wife Rizwana and children struggling to make ends meet.
Rizwana has been since given a job at Nimbalkar's charitable organisation.
Samad Kazi was shot dead along with Nimbalkar on the Mumbai-Pune expressway on June 3, 2006. The family of Kazi now are now hoping that their long wait for justice will end soon.
"We are being taken care of by the Nimbalkar family, they are supporting us. I still don't understand why he was killed, what happened, he has left behind two young children," said Rizwana Kazi.
Meanwhile, social activist Anna Hazare who was called to record Patils' statement suggested that Patil did indeed have Nimbalkar killed.
"When I had exposed the Terena sugarcane scam, the P Sawant committee investigating the matter had found Patil guilty due to which he had to step down from ministership. I suspect in his anger he gave Jain the contract to kill," said Hazare.
