DAVANGERE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa insisted that he has never been after the posts of the chief minister or the state BJP president.Addressing the media at the residence of Harihar MLA B P Harish Gowda here on Friday, Yeddyurappa said that CM D V Sadananda Gowda’s victory in the recent Legislative Council byelection was expected despite the Congress fielding its candidate. “I congratulate H D Deve Gowda for the JD(S) abstaining from the election and thereby helping us.”Adding that only national parties will have a bearing in state politics, he averred that there was no need for parties such as the JD(S). “I am confident that the BJP will win more than 140 seats in the next Assembly elections and form the government; we plan to win more than 24 seats in the Parliament elections,” he said. On political developments at the national level, Yeddyurappa said that the Lok Sabha may face dissolution any time now.
