Nashik contractor arrested in Rs-10 cr cheating case
Patil had fraudulently taken loan of Rs 10 crore in the name of civic workers.

Nashik: Municipal contractor Ramrao Tukaram Patil, on whose complaint CBI had arrested former Union Minister Buta Singh's son Sarobjit Singh in a bribery case, was on Monday held in a Rs 10-crore cheating case.

Police arrested Patil for allegedly cheating the civic workers -- involved in collecting garbages from the limits of the Nashik Municipal Corporation -- of Rs 10 crore after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the district sessions court.

Patil had taken loan of Rs 10 crore in the name of these workers who received notices from an urban cooperative credit society urging them to pay loan advances.

The accused had allegedly cheated the workers by taking their signatures on blank papers after assuring them jobs in the civic body, police said.

The workers lodged a cheating complaint against Patil last month, they said.

Patil used to provide vehicles in all the 108 civic wards of the city to collect garbages.

As the matter came before Buta Singh, Chairperson, SC/ST Commission, he asked the police to book Patil under the Atrocity Act, as he had cheated Dalit workers.

Singh, during his Nashik visit on July 10, had said that a special court should hear the matter.
