After a series of discussions with several prominent Tollywood film directors and writers the Telugu Desam leadership has decided to name party chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s Padayatra from Hindupur in Anantapur district from October 2 as ‘Vastunna Meekosam’.
The party, which has received drubbing in a series of elections in the last eight years, is banking heavily on Naidu’s Padayatra to ride on it to power in 2014 and its leaders have started making preparations with high political expectations.
Naidu had met Tollywood successful directors SS Rajamouli and Srinu Vaitla and sought suggestions from them to make his mass-contact programme a superhit. He also met ace director and party sympathiser K.Raghavendra Rao, and Murali Mohan and AVS to discuss his yatra.
He finalised the name, ‘Vastunna Meekosam’, for the Padayatra after a lengthy discussion with the famous writer duo _ Paruchuri Brothers. Senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and some others participated in the discussions. TDP prepared audio CDs with several songs for the yatra, which will be shortly released. On the other hand, film actor Balakrishna, brother-in-law of Naidu, is also providing suggestions and directions to Naidu.
A TDP leader said it was not new for the party chief to involve Tollywood stars in party work and recalled election campaigning by several stars in 2004 and 2009.
Turning to real issues, the TDP chief blamed prime minister Manmohan Singh’s for the country’s present situation and alleged that he had failed to implement the economic reforms in the right direction and with a human face. He described Manmohan Singh as inefficient and demanded a white paper on all the scams that surfaced during his eight-year rule.
Naidu alleged that the Congress government in the state failed to ensure that the Assembly discussed people’s problems. His party MLAs staged a protest at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises on Saturday against the government’s alleged failure to conduct the Assembly proceedings properly.
