GUNDAIPALEM (PRAKASAM): Leader of the opposition and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu staged a dharna here on Tuesday demanding that the 28,000 acres of lands acquired for VANPIC project be resumed by the government under the Revenue Recovery Act since the promoters had failed to ground the project.He alleged that the lands acquired for the Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Ports Industrial Corridor Projects (VANPIC) were being used for real estate business. He accused Nimmagadda Prasad, one of the promoters, of investing `750 crore in YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s media and other companies. He also alleged that Jagan’s relative Balineni Srinivasa Reddy was one of the major beneficiaries of the project.When Naidu asked R Venkatayya if he he had been paid the compensation for his 2 acres acquired for the project, the farmer said “no’’. Claiming that his party was committed to rooting out corruption from society, he alleged that many irregularities had been committed while sanctioning 130 SEZs and the coastal corridor project during the rule of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
