HYDERABAD: The standing committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has rejected the proposal to handover operation and maintenance of existing 16 Citizen Service Centres to e-Sevas.It also asked the commissioner invite fresh tenders and see reputed agencies come forward for maintaining the CSCs for three years.Speaking to reporters on Saturday after the standing committee meeting, GHMC mayor Banda Karthika Reddy said the decision to reject the proposal was taken in view of large-scale complaints about delay in getting birth and death certificates from e-Sevas.“There were several complaints from citizens as well as elected representatives against e-Seva centres for inordinate delay in providing birth and death certificates,” the mayor said.Presently, 61 services are offered by the CSCs and handing them over to e-Seva centres would only add to the confusion, Karthika Reddy said. The standing committee also agreed for balance payment of `5.5 crore for establishing a 11 MW solid waste power plant. The project is being set up by Ms RDF Power Projects Ltd.The GHMC will supply 700 MT of garbage for the proposed project, with a condition it will supply 90 percent (630 MT) at the site and collect `25 per ton as royalty. The GHMC has entered into an MoU in 2007 for investing 26 percent equity in conformity with guidelines issued by the AP Pollution Control Board regarding handing and disposal of municipal solid waste.
