HYDERABAD: The AP Social Welfare Residential Schools Association and Telangana Government Junior Lecturers Association have decided to put off the strike.After holding talks with social welfare minister P Satyanarayana in the secretariat on Tuesday, AP Social Welfare Residential School Teachers and Principals Association (Telangana region) president Madhusudan and convenor Balraju announced that they would resume duties keeping in view the future of SC students.The leaders said they would join the strike whenever the TJAC and Telangana Employees JAC give a call in this regard.“We are only postponing, but not withdrawing our strike. We launched the strike to pressurise the Centre to introduce the Telangana bill in Parliament,” they said. In all, there are 1,630 teachers, 114 principals and 10 in-charges in 124 residential schools in the T region. The minister said the teachers would conduct classes on holidays to make up for the loss of working days.The teachers would be paid wages for the strike period. Meanwhile, leaders of the Telangana Government Junior College Lecturers JAC held discussions with secondary education minister K Parthasarathi. After the talks, the JAC leaders announced that the lecturers would attend duties from Wednesday.Parthasarathi promised to appoint a regional joint director for the sixth zone to look into lecturers’ other demands. Salaries would also be paid to them for the strike period, he said. The Inter Vidya JAC made it clear that it would take a decision only after holding talks with TJAC convenor M Kodandaram.
