More dengue cases pour in

BHUBANESWAR: Despite the drives launched by the State Government, dengue has remained untamed with more and more cases pouring in. As many as 53 new cases were reported on Friday. Of the 117 samples tested at SCB Medical, Cuttack, MKCG Medical, Berhampur, and Capital Hospital here, 53 were found positive. All of them were tested at SCB Medical.  Of the 53 cases, 18 were from Angul, while Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Jajpur reported eight cases each.  So far, 402 dengue positive cases have been detected in the State from 962 samples, the percentage inching close to 50. With 211 cases, Angul is the worst hit followed by Jajpur with 43 and Cuttack with 42 cases. The disease, which has claimed 17  lives, has spread to 21 districts.
