BANGALORE: The recent monsoon showers in the city has risen the number of patients visiting hospitals. The most common complaints are infections, viral fever and body ache.Speaking to Express, Dr Raveendra K R, consultant physician, Victoria Hospital, said, that ever since the rains has started, the hospital is abuzz with patients complaining of several infections and fever in OPD. Every day, more than 15 patients visit the hospital complaining of respiratory disorders. Doctors in K C General Hospital, Malleswaram, too treat around 15 cases of viral infections every day.Speaking about a few suspected dengue cases reported in some hospitals, doctors opine that after the rains stops, the climatic conditions become worse as the accumulated water is the breeding ground for the mosquitoes.Health conditions of those suffering from preexisting medical conditions like chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, are at high risk in this season. However, suggesting a few pre-cautionary measures, the doctors say that contact with people with respiratory infections should be avoided as their infections are highly communicable.Especially, asthmatic people, who are highly susceptible to infections should avoid contact with people suffering from cold, fever, sore throat, runny nose, as all these infections are contagious.
