CHENNAI: DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi declared, in Chennai on Wednesday, that he would revive Tamil Eelam Supporters’ Organisation (TESO) in Tamil Nadu to achieve the goal of a separate Tamil Eelam.Speaking at a public meeting about the plight of democracy in the State Assembly, Karunanidhi said that he would spend the rest of his life to achieve Tamil Eelam. He reiterated that the Centre should extend support to form a separate Eelam.“When someone asked me five years ago what my unrealised dream was, I replied Tamil Eelam,” Karunanidhi recalled. “I do not want to create a ruckus by recalling the reasons which prevented the formation of the Tamil Eelam,” he said. “I had been writing by gathering prevailing evidence to draw those who oppose Tamil Eelam to us,” he added. “Fifty years ago, Tamil Eelam was the aim of Thanthai Chelva (Samuel James Veluppillai Chelvanayakam) the father of Tamil Eelam. In order to attain Eelam, I wish to revive TESO,” he said. TESO will act as a subsidiary movement of DMK. “DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan, Dravida Kalagam general secretary K Veeramani and those who support Eelam can join the movement,” he said.
