New Delhi: Terrorists in Kashmir fired on an Army convoy in Sopore on Friday killing two civillians - Mohammad Ashraf and Shabir Ahmad Khan. Four civillians and four jawans were injured in the firing.
According to agencies, the terrorist outfit al-Mansoorain has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Army convoy of 80 Mountain Brigade of 80 Mountain Brigade was on its way from Srinagar from Badipora and the attack took place shortly after the Friday afternoon prayers finished in Sopore.
An eyewitness told UNI that people in the area, including the shopkeepers, ran for safety as security personnel took position. Traffic was suspended for about two hours after the incident.
Later, hundreds of locals took to streets, protesting against the incident. Carrying the bodies of the civilians killed in the crossfire, the demonstrators marched through the streets, raising anti security force slogans.
