Migrants to get ID cards

KOTTAYAM: A large number of migrant labourers in the state do not posses valid documents and the government has taken the matter seriously, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said here on Saturday. The government has taken steps to issue the identity cards to such workers as early as possible.Details of the worker, including address and name of local guardian, will be given in the card.It will also contain the details of the contractors who brought the labourer here, he said.“The migrant labourers are brought by contractors.Later, the labourers will be supplied to sub contractors.There is lack of transparency in the whole operation,” he said.
