PIRAVOM: In protest against the Meenachil river-linking project, the CPI Piravom constituency committee has organised a meeting for the protection of the Muvattupuzha River at Piravom. The meeting demanded the publication of the study report of the expert committee about the Meenachil project. If the project is implemented, the Muvattupuzha river will get dried up and will destroy the potable water projects in the district.Former MLA Babu Paul inaugurated the meet. CPI district committee member P K Mathew presided over the function. Former MLA M J Jacob, CPI state committee member E A Kumaran, district committee member K N Sugathan, constituency committee secretary K N Gopi, district panchayat member Julee Sabu, Sastra Sahithya Parished unit president Mohnadas Mukundan and Merchants Association president M T Paulose spoke on the occasion.
