The total budget for plantation, land development and other allied activities could reach ` 30 crore while ` 2 crore has been initially released, she added. Sources said the Sundargarh, Bonai and Rourkela forest divisions would cover 75 km in avenue plantation. Separately, the Bonai and Rourkela forest divisions would collectively set up 13 nurseries, raise 11.86 lakh seedlings, cover 100 ha in block plantation and 1,000 ha in ANR programme.Moreover, the soil conservation wing would cover 56.4 km under avenue plantation along the PMGSY roads and 226 ha under individual plantation programme. Similarly, the horticulture wing would set up six nurseries and plant saplings on 91.78 ha, while the Sericulture Department would set up five nurseries, grow 5.60 lakh seedlings of special varieties and cover 140 ha and 95 ha under block plantation and ANR programme respectively.District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Project Director PK Nayak said that massive plantation and associated activities are underway to achieve maximum target before the end of monsoon with adequate focus on survival of saplings.
