The Njarakkal police on Monday arrested a person in connection with a case in which a nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually exploited by several people. The arrested is Nasser, 45, a fish vendor from Vypeen.
According to a police official, the girl was sold to Nasser by her mother Sindhu. Nasser allegedly frequented Sindhu’s house. The police are searching for the others who allegedly molested the girl.
The police official said that they could not identify all the persons involved in the case. The girl, who was rescued by the Child Welfare Committee and sent to the Girls’ Home, Kakkanad, has not yet come out of her trauma.
