New Delhi: Maldivian President Mohamed Waheed arrived in New Delhi on Friday on a five-day official visit, his first to any country since he seized power from Mohamed Nasheed three weeks ago.
Waheed was Nasheed's vice president and took charge of the atoll nation following a police mutiny, sparking political unrest.
In Delhi, Waheed will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss Maldives' future, possible early elections and India's support for the country's development, security and stability.
He will also meet External Affairs Minister SM Krishna apart from calling on President Pratibha Patil. All these meetings are scheduled for Saturday.
Waheed flies to Mumbai on Monday where he will meet Maharashtra Governor K. Shankaranarayanan Tuesday before leaving for Male later in the day.
