Mumbai: Director Vikramaditya Motwane said working on 'Lootera' was an emotional journey during which the cast and crew faced some tough time.

He has captured all the struggle his team went through and how they overcame the problems in a short documentary.

'Lootera', a romance period drama directed by Motwane and starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh in the lead, will hit theatres on July 5.

Making 'Lootera' was not a cakewalk for the makers and their team. The film's crew faced anxious moments when Ranveer suffered back injury while shooting in Dalhousie.

The shooting schedule went haywire as the actor had to be rushed back on a stretcher. Then the team faced extreme weather conditions in the hill station and the film set got destroyed.

"Lootera has been an emotional journey for all those involved with it. It is the perseverance and determination of the crew that made sure this movie got made," Motwane said in a statement here.

Motwane, who took one year to complete the movie, said the five-minute documentary captures all the travails they went through while making the film.

"After watching this five-minute video, a lot of people want us to make a full-fledged documentary. We will be releasing some more footage of our journey soon," he said.

The makers are yet to decide whether to release the documentary, 'Labour of Love', independently during promotions or screen it with the film's end credits. 'Lootera', set in the Bengal of 1950s, is inspired by O Henry's story 'The Last Leaf'.
