Liquor bottles found in hospital

BALASORE: Liquor bottles were found stocked inside a freezer in the kitchen of the district headquarters hospital during a surprise visit of Balasore Sadar MLA Jiban Pradip Dash to the hospital on Saturday.The visit was in the wake of allegations by the patients that they were supplied  with rotten eggs in the hospital. The MLA told mediapersons that he would report it to the Health Minister  and the Secretary about the sorry state of affairs in the hospital. The MLA went round the wards in the hospital during his two-hour visit.  Though Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Iqbal Ahmmad accompanied him during the surprise check, the MLA was miffed at the absence of the Additional District Medical Officer from the hospital without leave. He expressed displeasure over the deteriorating sanitation and unhygienic condition inside the wards. Medical authorities assured him to change the scenario within a month. The CDMO said he had sought a report from the manager of the hospital kitchen over the allegation of rotten food and eggs being served to the patients.
