With the Assembly elections round the corner, some of the leaders belonging to the powerful Lingayat community met separately at a hotel and decided to put pressure on the party high command for the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president’s post.
According to party sources, the group included KPCC treasurer Shamanur Shivashankarappa, former union minister M V Rajashekharan, former KPCC president Allam Veerabhadrappa and legislator B C Patil.
They have decided to visit New Delhi and meet the party high command, the sources said.
Meanwhile, another group of the party MLAs met External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, who is belongs to the powerful Vokkaliga community and reportedly took stock of the political developments in the state.
