LDF plans series of agitations from July 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Showing signs of recovery from the unlucky defeat in the Assembly elections, the LDF on Monday decided to shift to an agitation mode to rejuvenate its cadres. A series of agitations raising various demands will be launched in the state from the first week of July.The first campaign will begin on July 1 and last for a week. “It will be against the ongoing attacks in West Bengal targeting workers of opposition parties. The LDF workers will express their solidarity with their Bengal counterparts,’’ LDF covener Vaikom Viswan told mediapersons after the state committee meeting of the Front here.From July 15 to 21, the LDF will organise a state-wide campaign to expose the wrongdoings of the UDF Govt. “This is in tune with the national campaign against the corruption in UPA Govt. It will be organised in Assembly constituency level,’’ Viswan said.The LDF convener described as “unprecedented’’ the decision of the UDF Govt to review the decisions taken by the LDF Govt since January 1 this year. “Such a step had never been taken by any previous governments,’’ Viswan said. This is an attempt to torpedo the cases slapped against current ministers P K Kunhalikutty, Adoor Prakash, T M Jacob and M K Muneer, he said. “Officials are being transferred without rhyme or reason. The new officer appointed to probe the palmolein case has suspicious credentials,’’  he said.
