PALAKKAD: Lathika Subash, the Congress leader who contested against Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan at the Malampuzha Assembly constituency, on Saturday withdrew the defamation case filed against Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan for casting aspersions on her during a press meet in the run up to elections.Lathika Subash has filed a petition in the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II withdrawing the case against the former Chief Minister.Later, Lathika told reporters that she was doing so after regarding Achuthanandan's statement that he did not intend to hurt anybody. Moreover, she said, she respected the age of the Opposition leader. "I am thankful to the media and all progressive people who supported me", she said and added that she had taken time to withdraw the case because there was no sitting of the court.
