The Kerala High Court on Monday upheld the government order cancelling the lease agreement with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce over the land on MG Road in Kochi.
Justice C T Ravikumar issued the order on a petition challenging the cancellation of the lease agreement on the ground that it had subleased the building constructed on it to run a jeweller. The court said that it did not find any reason to interfere with the government order.
The Chamber contended that the government had no authority to take over the land as the land had been vested with the Kochi Corporation as per the law.
However, the court rejected the contention.
