New Delhi: The little 'Anjali', who goes looking for her father's best friend in 1998 blockbuster 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', made every heart warm with her innocence. Cut to 2012, Sana Saeed is no more the innocent child but the girl has transformed into a hot diva in Karan Johar's latest flick 'Student Of The Year'.
Where the fringes have given way to bangs, Sana Saeed's child-like innocence has been replaced with mean streak in 'Student Of The Year'. Sana, who plays Alia Bhatt's competitor, has gone for an image makeover in her comeback film. While her 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' image is still etched in the minds of many, Sana has gone ahead to bowl over her fans with loud make-up, skimpy clothes and lean figure.
Though her first glimpse in the film comes as a stark contrast to her naïve image of Anjali, Sana fails to impress the audience with her acting skills. Taking a cue from 'High School Musical' and 'Mean Girls', Karan has tried to put Sana's character into the bracket of a dumb rich blonde who tries to seduce her competitor's boyfriend. And, despite giving her some screen space, Sana's presence just fails to impress the audience.
Filmmaker Karan Johar introduced Rani Mukerji to the world of Bollywood almost 14 years ago with 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and similar comparisons are being drawn between Sana’s comeback in 'Student Of The Year'. While Rani played the second lead in 1998 blockbuster, Sana seems to sailing the same boat right now. Rani's character in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' was that of a spoilt rich girl who has the entire college drooling over her. Similarly, Sana’s character in 'SOTY' has men especially Varun Dhawan drooling over her charm and sexy look.
And, if things turn out to be the same, Sana Saeed might turn out to be the next Rani Mukerji of Bollywood.
