KOTTAYAM: A Keralite settled in the US was shot dead in Chicago on Saturday. Jojo, 31, of Koduvathra House in Kumarakom and working as a gas station attendant, was fatally shot during a robbery. Jojo was hit when he tried to stop the robbers from escaping with the looted money. It is learnt that robbers were African-Americans. In the attack, another person from North India, working along with Jojo was injured. Though the alarm at the gas station was sounded soon after the attack, the burglars fled with the money. Jojo and the North Indian were rushed to Cook County hospital, where Jojo succumbed to his injuries. Jojo is survived by wife Nimmy and a six-month-old baby Alphonse. Jojo is the son of K K James and Lilly. Josmy is his sister.Most of his relatives are settled in the US. George, brother of Jojo’s father, from Ettumanoor left for the US on Monday, where the funeral would take place on a later date.
