Chennai: Deepa Jayakumar has alleged that her aunt J Jayalalithaa was attacked before she was rushed to hospital on September 22, 2016.
Deepa made the allegation on Wednesday to the inquiry committee headed by a Justice (Retd) Arumugasamy, which is looking into the circumstances which led to the death of the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
She told the media: "I told them whatever I knew. I raised doubts over my aunt’s death. People who resided at Poes garden residence should be questioned. The maid, Rajamma, and others should be questioned. I raised doubts over how my aunt who was normal that day (Sept 22) suddenly was hospitalised. She could have been attacked.”
“I have been given more information from a neighbour who wants to remain anonymous and he said that six people who were not part of the household were made to stay at Poes Garden. I have told the committee about it. Since 2011, there was a conspiracy to kill my aunt by Sasikala and family. I have told them whatever I had," she added.
State health secretary J Radhakrishnan has submitted both the Apollo Hospital and the AIIMS report on Jayalalithaa’s death to the inquiry committee.
Jayalalithaa's nephew Deepak Jayakumar was also summoned and questioned for nearly four hours.
Deepak told reporters that he raised doubts over his aunt's death. “I have raised all the doubts I had on my aunt's hospitalisation and death. I want Sasikala and her family members to be questioned and I believe they will be summoned by the enquiry committee. I was asked about my family and about the 75-day hospitalisation of my aunt,” he said.
Deepak was by Jayalalithaa's bedside for several days when Jayalalithaa was undergoing treatment. He had earlier told a news channel that his aunt was conscious only for three days and there was no 'mystery' in his aunt's death. But now, he has taken a u-turn and said there are doubts over his aunt's death. He said he is not informed if he will be summoned again.
In September, the state government had constituted a single member committee to look into Jayalalithaa's death. So far, 13 people have been questioned by the inquiry committee.
Jayalalithaa breathed her last on December 5, 2016 and there have been many doubts raised over her hospitalisation and death. The committee will also summon Apollo management, O Panneerselvam and all ministers in the coming weeks.
