Safety Measures To Follow During Dahi Handi Utsav

  1. For the Govindas taking part in Dahi Handi, one should avoid consuming alcohol. Considering that they will need to be physically strong for the sport, drinking can hinder their chances and even leave them injured if they lose balance.
  2. Organisers must make preparations for first aid in case of any mishap or emergency situation. For example, the Govindas might suffer a cut or fall from the pyramid, suffering a sprain. Quick first-aid will help provide on-the-spot treatment.
  3. Dahi Handi organisers should also arrange for an ambulance in case of any serious accident during the sport. As it often becomes difficult to call an ambulance during the festivities, advance preparations might be of great help.
  4. Some basic safety measures must be put into place, like providing knee caps and helmets to the Govindas. Also, a thick mat can be spread on the ground right below the pyramid.
