New Delhi: It's a pleasant dilemma on October 30 as three of the biggest events India has ever seen will divide viewers between the closing ceremony of the country's first Grand Prix, eccentric style icon Lady Gaga's show and an electrifying performance by thrash pioneers Metallica.
Metallica is slated to perform on October 28 and 30 in Delhi and Bangalore respectively during their inaugural India tour. The band celebrates the first Grand Prix race ever held in India with a performance in Delhi on October 28, 2011 at F1 Rocks, Leisure Valley, Gurgaon.
They will also perform in the Bangalore Palace Ground on October 30 as part of the Sonisphere Festival.
Bassist Robert Trujillo had announced their plans to tour India in an interview with the Inland Empire Weekly magazine. Trujillo, who joined the band after Jason Newsted and original bassist, the late Cliff Burton, said Metallica has plans to play across Europe this summer, including appearances in Italy, Germany, Sweden, England and France in July, then Brazil in September.
Meanwhile, pop diva Lady Gaga is all set to make her India debut on October 30 when she will perform during the closing ceremony of the Formula One race in Greater Noida.
"It's a very big thing that Lady Gaga has agreed to perform in India. She's in the peak of her career now and I am thrilled to announce that she will come to India for the first time," said LAP restobar co-owner Arjun Rampal.
The Bollywood actor told reporters here that Gaga will come here to attend the Formula 1 event and perform at the LAPBuddh Circuit on its concluding day.
The Indian Grand Prix will be held at the Buddh International Circuit, about 40 kilometres from New Delhi, on October 30.
Media reports said that Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has proposed an April slot for the 2012 race. Temperatures in Delhi usually hover around 40 degrees in April. It gets hotter in May.
The 5.14-km track would be one of the fastest circuits in the world and would encourage overtaking.
