New Delhi: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday blamed vested interests for the violence in Karachi.

Addressing a rally in Islamabad on Saturday night, he warned that some people were trying to make political capital out of the suspension of chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhary.

He warned that his silence on the developments over the last few months should not be mistaken for weakness and demanded that Chaudhary's supporters end their agitation.

“I will never disappoint my country and its people," he said. “Today’s rally should put to rest all doubts about who the people of Pakistan support,” he said.

He added that Pakistan is an atomic, a missile and now an economic power and is not be taken lightly by anyone.

“The people are with me so the question of emergency is absolutely ruled out. I'm happy that polity and justice has flourished in the country inspite of talk of emergency. I hope the people will vote for me again. I pledge to take Pakistan forward on the path of progress,” said Musharraf.
