New Delhi IIMs Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Lucknow, which have provided subsidised education for long, may hike fees for their top courses by 15-20 per cent.
The IIM Ahmedabad board will meet on April 2 to discuss a proposed hike for PG diploma course fees. "It is on the agenda. A decision will be taken in the meeting," institute officials said. Fees haven't been revised for three years.
"If we consider 5 per cent inflation for three years, the increase in cost will be 17 per cent," said a member of the IIM-Ahmedabad faculty.
IIM Lucknow is considering a 15 per cent fee hike and IIM Bangalore plans to raise its fee too.
An IIM Bangalore official said: "The director has made a statement that despite opposition from some board members, the institute is going in for a fee hike."
IIM Bangalore may hike fees from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.75 per year.
The IIM-Ahmedabad board will also discuss how to put the institute in the top 20-30 global business schools.
The government's plan to raise reservation from 22.5 per cent to a maximum 49.5 per cent in IIMs may also be discussed at the meeting.
