HYDERABAD: A bomb threat call to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) state office at Koti on Friday turned to be a hoax. The caller threatened to explode a bomb near the organisation’s office to avenge the ‘atrocities’ by the Parishad against a particular section of people in the last few months.According to police and VHP leaders, the call was made to the landline of the VHP office at Sultan Bazar around 12.30 p.m and the office in-charge, Rajeshwar, received the call. Unable to understand the caller who was speaking in Hindi and Urdu, Rajeshwar handed over the phone to Bajrang Dal city president Nomula Vinod.“The caller threatened to explode a bomb near our office. He claimed that they made a similar attempt earlier to blast the office but could not. However, the caller said they would blast the office on Friday,” Vinod said. The caller spoke in broken Hindi but his Urdu was clear.Vinod immediately alerted the personnel at the police outpost and also the police control room and bomb disposal squad rushed to the place. The squad searched for possible explosives in the office and nearby areas for more than an hour but could not find any.Meanwhile, the City Security Wing (CSW) sleuths reportedly asked the local police to enhance security measures at the office after the threat call.
