KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Saturday dismissed a petition challenging the disqualification of Malayalam film ‘Adimadhyantham,’ which had sparked a controversy after its inclusion in the competition section of the 16th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).Justice Antony Dominic passed the order while considering a petition filed by P A Rasheed, producer of the film, against the decision of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy not to include the film in the competition section.Academy chairman Priyadarshan said that the film was removed because the director had given false declaration while submitting the film for entry in the festival. The petitioner submitted that the movie was selected for screening under the competition section. The selection was made by an independent committee and the decision to include the film was taken after viewing 98 films. The petitioner alleged that the decision to not include the film in the IFFK was taken after the producers of the films which were not selected approached the Minister for Cinema K B Ganesh Kumar. Later in a press conference, Ganesh Kumar said that the film was incomplete and not eligible to be considered in the competition section, the petitioner pointed out.  However,  the court found that the movie was not eligible to be selected in the competition category.
