The Uttarakhand government has said the teachers from overstaffed government schools in the state would be transferred to the ones suffering from perennial shortage of staff.
Issuing directives to this effect in Dehradun, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar has sought a district-wise list from the Education Department of government-run schools having teachers more or less than the set norms, official sources said on Saturday.
After the list is prepared, schools with excess teachers will send their staff to the ones suffering from staff shortage, he said while addressing the Executive Committee meeting of Uttarakhand-Education For All Board.
Kumar also said that strict action will be taken against the teachers who remain absent from schools and get their work done by other teachers. He also ordered registration of FIRs against the guilty in such cases.
The Chief Secretary gave his approval to a fund of Rs 786 crore for the 2014-15 annual plan in the education sector.
