Earlier, the NGS had floated tenders twice for the development of Games Village for the 35th edition of the sporting event, which is now expected to be held in the first half of 2013. One plan was to construct a permanent accommodation facility on a five acre-plot in PPP model and request for pre-qualification from developers of residential projects for constructing Games Village at Akkulam. The second project was to take residential apartments for lease. However, no companies came forward for both projects citing that they were not financially and commercially viable due to the uncertainty prevailed over the exact date of the event.
