A girl from a remote village in Warangal who went missing eight years ago was traced in Gujarat and was united with her family by the Women Protection Cell.
The girl, G Venkata Lakshmi, hails from Lamaram village in Kothaguda in Warangal district.
According to an official release, Lakshmi boarded a train to Hyderabad when she was 11-year-old. She had thought of returning to her village after some time. She stayed at her uncle's house in SR Nagar in Hyderabad. While returning to her home, she boarded a wrong train that took her to Gujarat. Police there handed over Lakshmi to a rehabilitation centre in Surat.
She was kept under protective custody by a local organisation, Nari Samrakshan Gruh and details were passed on to the Women Protection Cell. The mother and relatives of the girl was traced at Lamaram village.
