THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has charged that Government Chief Whip PC George was trying to divert public attention by raising frivolous allegations against him, while society and the media world is discussing “the conspiracy and illegality perpetuated by a criminal in jail."He said that all allegations levelled against him could be probed by any agency which the government decide, like in many other cases."If such a probe ends in bringing out nothing, the Chief Whip can conduct another news conference and come up with yet another allegation,’’ he ridiculed, referring to the CEO appointment controversy in the Kochi Inforpark.“Clause No 13 of the Memorandum of Association of the Infopark details about the CEO appointment. The IT Minister is vested with powers to appoint the CEO and the former UDF Government also followed the same procedure,’’ he said.“Instead of it, with the approval of the Cabinet, the LDF Government made the whole procedure transparent, by giving an advertisement inviting applications and conducting an interview,’’ he claimed.
