Sri Lankan Navy allegedly attacked Indian fishermen and damaged fishing nets in mid sea near Katchatheevu on Wednesday.
Sources said that around 405 mechanised boats had ventured into sea for fishing from Rameswaram. The Indian fishermen were netting near Katchatheevu when they were surrounded by Lankan navy vessels.
Some Lankan naval personnel jumped into the mechanised boats and cut the fishing nets off the boats. They then allegedly attacked the fishermen with ropes.
