Four children drown in waterlogged field

Four children, including three siblings and their cousin on Friday drowned after they slipped and fell into a pool of water in a waterlogged field.

The children were identified as Habiba (8), Ruby (7), Sagheer (9) and their cousin Bhura (6) all residents of upper Kot locality in the old city here and had gone out to play in a field in the Mulla Para locality where heavy rains led to water logging in the fields creating pools, police said.

The children were playing in one such pool without realising its depth and drowned in it, they said.

One of their cousins, Sadiq who was sitting nearby noticed the mishap and called for help but by the time anyone could come to their rescue the children had drowned.
