MYSORE: Owing to lack of will power and collective fighting, the politicians have failed to develop Kannada. They have become ‘useless fellows’ by fighting for the undesired issues, condemned former judge justice AJ Sadashiva, criticising the plans of the government to open English medium primary schools. He was speaking at a book release function at Karnataka State Open University on Saturday. Highlighting the dual stands of politicians on developing Kannada, he rued that politicians are fighting for the benefits by the Centre to be given as part of the Classical Language Status to Kannada, while in state, they favour opening of English medium primary schools.“This is our political system, can we call them as ‘useless fellows,” Sadashiva ridiculed.Politicians in a hurry to open English medium schools at any cost, he said, should realise that three Supreme Court chief justices and eminent scientist Prof UR Rao studied their primary education in mother tongue, Kannada.“This being the truth, why should you neglect mother tongue and open English medium schools?” he questioned.
