Eligibility criteria revised for K-TET-2012

The Commissioner for Government Examinations has modified the eligibility criteria for appearing for Kerala Teachers’ Eligibility Test(K-TET)- 2012.

The minimum educational qualification required for appearing for K-TET III is BA/ B Sc/ B Com with at least 45% marks and one -year Bachelor’s degree in Education (B Ed) in the subject concerned. BA/ B Sc/ B Com with at least 45% marks and one year Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard would also be considered.

Those who have passed higher secondary/ senior secondary (or its equivalent) should have at least 50% marks and four-years Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B El Ed), Higher secondary/ senior secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and four-year BA / B Sc Ed or B A Ed or B Sc Ed would also be considered.

The minimum educational qualification required for appearing for K-TET II is B A/ B Sc/ B Com and two-year diploma in Elementary Education/ Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by the Board of Examination, Kerala Government or its equivalent.

B A / B Sc / B Com with at least 45% marks and one year Bachelor’s in Education (B Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard would also be accepted.

Those with higher secondary/ senior secondary (or its equivalent)should have at least 50% marks and four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B El Ed) or four-year B A/ B Sc Ed or B A Ed or B Sc Ed.

A relaxation of three per cent in the minimum qualifying marks would be given to OBC and OEC candidates.

The last date for submission of online applications for K-TET has been extended up to August 2. Teachers who have qualified CTET, NET, SET and having M Ed, M Phil or PhD in the respective subjects would be exempted from K-TET.

Hundreds of candidates who passed the higher secondary exams with 45 per cent marks have joined TTC course.

They will not be eligible to appear for the test. Many of these students started preparing for the test and they are now left in the lurch.
