Elephant had gone berserk with mahout and two foreign tourists atop it.

Jaipur: A female elephant, which had climbed hills near Amber area near Jaipur after turning hostile on Monday died on Tuesday, while she was being brought back to ground.

The 30-year-old elephant Naina went berserk on Monday evening while on her way back with the mahout and two foreign tourists sitting on its back.

"Naina did not stop at the point and ran towards Amber market damaging few two wheelers and walls, and then into nearby forest area," Rashid Khan, secretary of Hathi Malik Vikas Samiti said adding that the tourists and mahout riding on her somehow managed to jump to safety.

Wildlife experts and veterinary doctors rushed to the spot but could not bring the animal under control till late Monday night even after having used tranquilisers.
