Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the state with traditional fervour and gaiety.

People embraced each other on the occasion, forgiving, pardoning and promising each other for a peaceful and prosperous future.

Governor Syed Ahmed greeted people of Jharkhand on the occasion while Chief Minister Hemant Soren called upon the Governor to greet him.

Muslims offered prayers across the state while a member of a Hindu family in Ramgarh district completed 14th year of observing the month-long fasting to mark Ramazan. "I have been observing roza (fast) for the last 14 years," said 55-year-old Ishwar Prasad Mehta, adding he had also visited Ajmer Sharif.

Mehta said he invited people from both Hindu and Muslim communities and served sweet dishes to mark the day and prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness of all. Dressed in new attire, people embraced each other and exchanged sweets with others.
