Warangal: Rescue operations intensified on Monday morning to save the two-year-old boy, who fell into an open borewell at a hamlet in Warangal district.
Efforts to pull out Mahesh, stuck in the 30-ft-deep borewell, had hit a roadblock on Sunday when the rescue team faced difficulties in digging a parallel pit due to rocky earth, officials said.
The team later dug a 25-ft-deep pit to reach him even as oxygen was being pumped in to keep the toddler alive.
Senior TDP leader and local MLA E Dayakar Rao said a rock-breaker was being brought from neighbouring Kurnool district.
According to doctors, the boy might be unconscious but chances of his survival are good enough.
Pictures taken by cameras sent inside the borewell on Sunday night showed the boy was alive.
Mahesh slipped into the open borewell in an agricultural field in Handruthanda area on Sunday evening while playing.
