EC no to political posters on Red Ribbon train

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission has rejected the appeal of AP State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) to display posters of  political leaders on Red Ribbon Express (RRE) train as the poll code was in force, in view of bypolls on June 12.The APSACS had earlier sought the permission of the Election Commission to display the photographs of chief minister and other ministers on the eight-coach exhibition train as the poll code was in force.The Red Ribbon Express will run across the state from May 31 to  June 17 to spread awareness among the people on HIV/AIDS.The APSACS sought the permission from the EC to display the ministers’ photographs to make the campaign a big public event so that many people would attend the programme and  donate blood,  N Venkateswara Rao, deputy director, APSACS and RRE coordinator in AP has said.
