New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday extended till June 6 the judicial custody of a woman and her son, who had allegedly beaten to death a 42-year-old DTC driver of a bus which had grazed past his bike.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sushant Changotra sent Vijay and his mother Roshni to 11-day judicial custody after they were produced in the court on expiry of their remand and the police said its investigation was still going on.
Meanwhile, the authorities of a government school in Nangloi area of West Delhi, where Vijay had studied till class 10th, submitted in the court saying that as per their record he was more than 18 years of age.
The school authorities produced the record in pursuance to a notice issued to them earlier by the court for bringing date of birth records of Vijay, resident of Mundka in west Delhi, for ascertaining his age.
The court issued notice to another government school where the youngster had studied till the first standard to bring his date of birth records on the next date of hearing.
While Vijay was arrested on the night of May 10, his mother, accused of instigating him in the crime, was arrested on May 11. A case was registered at Mundka Police Station.
According to the police, the incident took place on the morning of May 10 when the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus driver, Ashok Kumar, was attacked by the biker following the accident in Mundka area.
It had said no passenger of the bus or any passerby came forward to save Kumar as he was allegedly attacked by Vijay.
The police had initially not revealed the identity of the biker, saying he might be a minor. Police had said Vijay had beaten Kumar with his helmet and fire extinguisher continuously for a few minutes and then fled the spot.
Kumar was driving a low-floor, non-AC bus of DTC which was going from Karampura to Bahadurgarh. Investigators had said the biker and his mother, a woman pillion rider, fell on the road after the bus grazed past their motorcycle before the driver was attacked.
Delhi government had announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the victim's family and said a permanent job in the transport department would be given to one family member of the deceased.
