Dont use plastics, eateries warned

KARAIKAL: Karaikal district sub-collector J Ashok Kumar has warned that eateries using plastic will be severely penalised.“Stern action will be taken on the commercial establishments that violate this rule,” he said.Kumar said all eateries, shops and hotels should switch to paper cups and bags since the Puduchery government has banned plastic usage.“We are initiating steps to eradicate plastic menace in the district with public cooperation to prevent environment degradation,” he said.The district administration has conducted discussions with Karaikal Muncipality officials regarding effective implementation of the ban on plastics.
